Dedicated to your horses Success!
Massage therapy has been around as a natural healing method with documentation from as early as 3,000 BCE in India. The first documented animal to be massaged was Julius Caesers dog in 2700 BC in China. The first horse was in 1970 done by “the father of equine sports massage, Jack Meagher.
Massage techniques have now been practiced all over the world helping the body to heal from within.
Massage has been scientifically shown to help reduce muscle soreness, help muscles recover faster after physical activity, improve circulation, reduce inflammation, promote relaxation and more.
How can I help you and your horse?
Tension is one of the biggest reasons I see horses having behavioral problems and musculoskeletal problems. This leads to asymmetry in their body. That asymmetry can cause lameness due to acute injury, improper movement or muscle spasms.
Massage & myofascial release relieves that tension allowing the body to return to its proper alignment allowing muscles that were in spasm to relax. This relieves the soreness and also allows all the muscles to function the way they were intended.
Other modalities like stretching, pole work and specialized movements on the ground and under saddle help to strengthen and stretch the body to keep it functioning at its best.
Learning how to properly warm up your horse starting from the grooming process to the time you step foot in the stirrup is a key component to keeping your horse sound, happy and succeeding in their discipline.
